Brent Alexander — Football
Brent Alexander ranks among the most accomplished defensive backs in Tennessee State football history, earning national recognition during a standout career from 1990-93. A free safety with exceptional instincts and playmaking ability, Alexander capped his senior season in 1993 by earning All-America honors from the Associated Press, NFL Draft Report, Sheridan Poll, and The Sports Network. He led the Tigers with 113 tackles that season while recording eight interceptions for 121 return yards, seven pass breakups, and two blocked kicks. His eight interceptions remain one of the top single-season performances in program history and helped establish him as one of the premier defensive players in the Ohio Valley Conference. Alexander finished his TSU career with 283 tackles and 121 interception return yards while earning All-OVC recognition three consecutive years, including preseason honors in 1992 and 1993, Second Team All-OVC accolades in 1992, and First Team All-OVC honors in 1993. Following his collegiate success, Alexander enjoyed a 12-year National Football League career with the Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Giants. His combination of elite collegiate production, national honors, conference recognition, and lengthy professional career solidifies his place among Tennessee State’s all-time football greats.
