Swimming & Diving

Jeffrey McMillan was a standout swimmer and diver for Tennessee State from 1980-84 and played a pivotal role in one of the most successful eras in program history. Recruited by legendary coach James Bass, McMillan helped lead the Tigers to the 1983 national championship at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. He scored valuable points in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, contributing significantly to the championship effort. McMillan’s performances earned him qualification for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, highlighting his status among the nation’s top collegiate divers. A product of the Chicago Park District youth sports programs, where he developed a passion for aquatics and diving at an early age, McMillan’s achievements helped continue Tennessee State’s tradition of excellence in swimming and diving and solidified his place among the program’s all-time greats.
