Hosted at The Loews Vanderbilt Hotel: Star Struck Gallery and Mezzanine, this laidback opening celebration sets the tone for the entire Classic
weekend with great music, signature drinks, positive energy, and the perfect reunion atmosphere for friends and supporters from Tennessee State University and Jackson State University alike.

Students, alumni, fans, and supporters are invited to gather at the Tennessee State University Amphitheater for an afternoon filled with music, entertainment, giveaways, and nonstop Big Blue pride as excitement builds toward kickoff. Featuring appearances by the Tennessee State University Aristocrat of Bands, cheerleaders, student leaders, athletic representatives, and special guests, this celebration captures the spirit of HBCU culture and offers an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages.

The John A. Merritt Classic Head Coaches' Luncheon continues one of the most cherished traditions of HBCU Classic football—bringing together alumni, supporters, corporate partners, community leaders, and fans for an afternoon of fellowship and friendly rivalry before kickoff weekend reaches its peak.
As anticipation builds for Saturday's showdown, attendees will celebrate the excellence, leadership, and traditions of Tennessee State University and Jackson State University.
